I’ve worked for DWLLC since July 2011. I am currently working as an Assignment Processor, so I conduct counseling appointments with our new clients, explain our programs, start job searches, and give information on the PASS Plan. I love being able to help people. I lived off of my disability check for two years, so I know what it feels like not having a job. I also know how great it feel to be able to find a job I can do, and be given a chance to work again for a great company.
I became disabled in 2007 while working in the US Marine Corps. I had a traumatic brain injury along with a total of 11 other permanent injuries during my enlistment. I had to re-learn how to do a lot of everyday things in different ways, and be grateful for the abilities I do have. My brain injury affected me the most and has caused me to become very interested in the brain. So, in my spare time I have been taking courses towards earning my degree in Secondary Special Education and I’ve obtained my A.A. Degree so far. What I learn in my classes helps me learn more about assistive devices and jobs for people with disabilities, which helps me at DWLLC.
